Kind Words for
Seal Island
"Rating: 4
Kate
Brallier's debut romance is a hit! SEAL ISLAND is utterly
enchanting. This author certainly portrays a talent that is
bound to put her on the best selling lists. The characters are
wonderfully created, and the plot has been well researched and well
planned. The world in which this story revolves is built at a
smooth pace that keeps the reader eager to know what will happen
next. I love the seal legend that is the basis of this novel,
and it is quite fun to imagine it being real. Actually, Ms.
Brallier's writing talent does bring the legend wonderfully alive.
I am really looking forward to seeing this author's next work
of art. If you enjoy reading romance with a bit of the
paranormal, then you'll be delighted with SEAL
ISLAND."

"In her premier book, author Kate
Brallier wonderfully weaves Cecil's story, as she deals with not
only the death of her aunt, and inheriting her aunt's house and
business, but also the mystery around her death. The reader is
also treated to some wonderful character development as Cecil's
relationships change with Tom, Richard and Ronan. The
relationships with each of the men make Cecil's personality
multi-dimensional and she comes completely tot life on the pages of
the book. Adding to the allure of this absorbing story is the
protrayal of the thunderously beautiful Maine Coast. Even on a
sunny day its coastline is darkly evocative and perfect for a
mystery. Fans of the original Dark Shadows will feel like they
have stepped back into that program as Cecil's story unfolds... Seal
island is a book to sink your teeth into."

Reviews
Infused with a
fascinatingly mixed dose of folklore and fact...Brallier cleverly
weaves in the romantic aspects of the story with the mystery...While
there is a slight paranormal aspect to the book, it is well
integrated into the romantic suspense and should not be a deterrent
to any reader wanting a good mystery. I absolutely loved this
book. It is well written, lengthy without being boring and
full of twists and turns that keep the reader guessing. I
think we are going to be reading some exciting books from this
talented new author and I can't wait for the next offering from
her.

"This
is a story for everyone who has ever dreamed of leaving it all
behind in search of a better life, and the surprises that await a
true believer. Kate Brallier is a talent to watch."

"...she -- and the novel -- echo the mode of
Mary Stewart [and] the book's slightly old-fashioned take on love
exudes a leisurely and timeless charm."

“Kate Brallier has a hit with
SEAL ISLAND. A thriller with a core of friendship,
love, and self-discovery, not to mention a hint of the paranormal,
the story engages the reader from the very beginning...The dialogue
is witty, and the scenery descriptions rich in detail, inviting
readers to visit and enjoy the attractions of
Maine.”
There are so many twists and turns in this
fabulous paranormal romance you can't help but turn the pages to
find out what happens next. You certainly won't be
disappointed. I was gloriously entertained by the goings on
Seal Island. Kate Brallier is definitely an author to
watch. Tor's new paranormal romance line is one of my favorite
reads!!!

Kate Brallier has done a great job in bringing to life the
legends of the selkie, those strange seals who can turn into humans.
For centuries, fishermen have told tales about the selkies as they
came in from the sea. In Seal Island, we meet a woman
searching for her true place in life. By the end, she learns the
lesson that any place is perfect if you’re happy with yourself.
Cecil grows up in this story as she finds love and adventure. Both
Tom and Ronan are fittingly mysterious and handsome. Ms. Brallier
has created some unforgettable characters, even the seals become
real.
Pick up Seal Island and settle down for a satisfying
afternoon of Maine hospitality and Scottish legend.
A Romance
Review This was a great story that takes you in many
different directions at once and neatly ties up all the story
threads by the end. It was interesting to watch a city-girl settle
so well in a rural environment. Ms. Brallier created very believable
and lovable characters and makes you feel for both the heroes and
the villain. I didn’t find myself distracted by the wide range of
storylines that, to me, demonstrates a fabulous storyteller. I
enjoyed reading the back-stories and the foreshadowing and was left
guessing until the end. Very well done, Ms. Brallier.
Fallen Angel Reviews
[The
heroine] ... is ably assisted by a strong support cast especially
her deceased aunt, Ragnarok a seal, and the three males competing
for her affection. The story line starts off as a contemporary
romance that turns into a mystery and finally curves into a fantasy.
Fans will appreciate this modern day romance with an iota of a
mystery that climaxes as a fantasy suspense thriller.
